It is located at the corner of Pho Hang Khoai, to the north of Hanoi's Old Quarter.
Dong Xuan market is Vietnam's oldest and largest market and it occupies half of the Dong Xuan Street.
This street originally belonged to two villages, the Nhiem Trung village and the Hau Tuc village.
Located at the confluence of the To Lich and Red Rivers, the Dong Xuan market was once one of the busiest urban areas in Southeast Asia.
The river networks provided a system of waterways which fed the market.
